Editing Work Items
With TeamLook, editing work items is just as easy as creating them. All you need
to do is open the work item, change whatever you like, and then save the item. Your
changes will immediately be updated to the server. To open a work item for editing,
find it in the TeamLook Explorer and either double-click on it or right-click and
select "Open Work Item." The only real challenge that could arise would be finding
the desired work item. To learn about how to search your work items, see "Organizing
and Searching Work Items."
Bulk Editing
If you need to apply the same changes to a number of work items, TeamLook provides
a "Bulk Edit" tool that makes this process simple and efficient. In the TeamLook
Explorer highlight the work items that you want to edit. Then either click the "Bulk
Edit" button in the TeamLook ribbon bar
or right-click the highlighted work items and select "Bulk Edit." This will open
a window that will allow you to change elements of all the selected work items.
You can edit who the work items are assigned to, the items' current state, the reason
for this state, the area path and iteration path that the work item is stored under,
and the items' history. If you have selected work items that do not have the same
state, the "State" assignment drop-down cannot be edited and will be grayed-out.
The "Reason" can only be edited once you have changed the state.
Attaching an email to an existing work item
You can also modify existing work items by attaching pertainent emails as you recieve
them. If you are inside an email in its own window, click "Attach to Work Item"
in the TeamLook section of the Message ribbon. If you are in your inbox, right click
on the desired email(s) and select "Attach to Work Item." You can also attach events
on your calendar or tasks on your to-do list in the same way. This will open a window
in which you find your desired work item(s). First select which server the work
item(s) are hosted on. Then you can generated a list of work items to choose from
either by using a saved query, typing in the ID numbers of the desired items, or
preforming a title and type search. Select your search method and click "Find."
Check the box next to any work items you want to attach the email to. Click the
"Attach and Open Work Item(s)" button establish the attachment and then review the
newly modified work items, or click the "Attach and Close" button to establish the
attachment and then return to your email.
