Creating a Work Item with Drag-and-Drop

You can create a new work item by dragging content from your docuement and dropping it on the Index tab of the TeamSpec panel. Highlight a selection of text that you want to fill one field of your new work item. Click and drag it to the Server node of the index.

This will open the "TeamSpec Work Item and Field Chooser." Expand the server node at the head of the list on the left. Expand the project in which you want to create your new work item and select its type. Then choose which work item field your selected text will fill.

In the index there will be a new work item listed. The field that you have just filled will be listed next to a grey circle, indicating that it has not yet been saved to the server.

To populate the next field of the new work item, highlight a selection in your docuemnt and drag it to the "New Work Item -" node in the index.

Be sure that you have followed the same path as before through the list on the left. Choose a new work item vales on the right.

Like the first time, select the work item field in the "TeamSpec Work Item and Field Chooser" window.

Continue in this manner until you have descriped all the pertainent work item fields. Then publish the new work item to save it to the server. If you have neglected to fill out a required work item field, TeamSpec will prompt you to do so before publishing (to learn more about publishing, see Publishing & Refreshing).
