The Canvas Tab
The canvas tab is a tool for viewing existing work items and referencing them in
your documents. There are a few different ways to send a work item to the canvas.
The fastest way is to type the work item's ID number into the field at the top of
the canvas tab. Then strike enter, or click "GO" and the work item will appear on
the canvas.
Work items you have recently brought to the canvas in this manner will be saved
in the ID field's drop-down menu. Select an ID number to bring it to the canvas.
You can also send a work item from a query's search results (to learn more about
queries, see Searching Work Items). Right-click
on the work item and select "Send to Canvas."
If you want to bring a work item that is already referenced in your document to
the canvas, right-click on the work item in the Index
tab and select "Send to Canvas."
Once you have sent a work item to the canvas, you will see all of its fields and
their values listed on the tab.
With a work item loaded on the canvas it is very easy to represent it in your document.
You can import it into your document with a skin (to learn more about skins, see
Skins). Simply click the "Skins" button at
the top of the canvas tab and select a skin from the drop-down menu.
Your most recently used skins will be listed in the drop-down. If you want to use
skin that isn't listed, select "Browse for Skin..." and choose a skin from the open
skin dialogue.
You can also reference the work item that you have loaded on the canvas by dragging
and dropping its values into your document. Click and hold on a work item field's
value and drop it where you want it in your document.
